Trouble Shooting
If the pump is drawing air. 1. Check pump lid and o-ring. Make sure the o-ring is cleaned and lubed. Make sure the pump lid is tight. 2. Check that the water level in the pool is in the middle of the tile. If it is low, water may not be traveling into the skimmer fast enough for the pump suction which causes the pump to suck air and lose prime. It will re-prime itself over and over. This will cause water features to run intermittently. Trouble Shooting 3. Check the seal on the pipe in front of the pump. If it has lost its seal, it will pull air. 4. Check skimmer flaps. Make sure they are not stuck in the “up” position If the water level is too low, it may cause damage to the motor and void warranty. Low pressure on filter gauge. Trouble shooting 1. Make sure the skimmer baskets are clean 2. If skimmer baskets are broken, debris may travel to the pump and clog the impeller which will produce low pressure. 3. Make sure your pump basket is clean. High presure on filter gauge 1. Filter cartridges may need to be cleaned or backwashed. 2. You may be in spa mode. High pressure is normal in this case. 3. Plumbing return lines may be clogged. Trouble shooting Spa Not Heating 1. Make sure valves are in the proper position 2. Make sure the heater is in the on position. 3. Make sure gas stop on gas line is in the on position 4. A larger meter may need to be installed to provide enough gas to heater and house. Your gas company can provide this free service. 5. Check for service lights on at heater. 6. Make sure fountain valve is closed. Spa Draining in off position 1. Make sure spa drain valve is closed. 2. Clean your spa jet check valve. 3. Clean your fountain check valve Spa draining in on position 1. Make sure valves are in proper position 2. Make sure pool cleaner valve is closed. Pump turns on and off by itself 1. Make sure time clock clips are secure on time clock dial. 2. If you have a computer controller, make sure programs for schedules are not overlapping each other. This will cause features to stay on or turn off at incorrect times. Pool Cleaner 1. Check filter screen at wall connection in pool or behind back up valve on hose. Trouble shooting 2. Make sure bag or debris catch basin is clean. 3. Check for debris stuck in wheels 4. Double check that valves are in correct position. 5. During cold weather, pool cleaner hoses may stiffen and cause cleaner to travel in circles. When this happens, remove pool cleaner from pool and lay hose on deck to let the sun soften. If it is too cold outside, this can be done in the garage. 6. Check for leaks in hoses, connections and swivels. 7. Check that the head float is not full of water. 7. For Polaris Pool Cleaners, there is a frame exchange program. Your warranty card MUST be submitted for this to be effective. Algae growth 1. You should brush your pool weekly to prevent algae growth on walls and floor. This will also improve the life of your plaster 2. Improperly adding chemicals to pool will create algae growth. It will also deteriorate plaster quickly. 3. After brushing and maintaining algae, thoroughly clean your brushes, vacuum head and hoses with bleach to prevent spreading. 4. Maintain a brushing and vacuuming routine for 10 – 14 days after you have dealt with the initial bloom. 5. Backwash and clean you D.E. filter or cartridges after algaecide treatment.
