After backwashing is complete, add the recommended
amount of D.E. to the skimmer closest Filter Maintenance C, Backwashing de to separation tank This is basically the same as normal backwashing except you are backwashing into a special Separation Tank instead of through a backwash hose. The tank must be cleaned after every backwash. To Clean a Separation Tank. Filter Maintenance 1. Turn pump off. 2. Remove the clamp that holds the lid on top of tank. 3. Pull out bag inside separation tank and clean with a water hose. 4. Replace bag inside separation tank. 5. Put the lid back on and replace the clamp and hand tighten. 6. Loosen and remove large band clamp that holds filter together. 4. Pull the filter assembly up and out by using handles available. Do not disassemble the assembly as it will be difficult to reassemble. 5. Wash filter assembly completely using a water hose. (No high pressure). 6. Remove drain plug at bottom of filter for tank to drain and clean the inside area. 7. Clean the large band clamp O-ring and be sure it is seated between the tank top & bottom. 8. Reinstall the top tank and band clamp and hand tighten only. 9. Turn on the pump and open the air relief valve. 10. Allow water to come out of the air relief valve and shut off. (This means all the air is out of the equipment). 11. Add the recommended amount of D.E. to your skimmer and let filter circulate for 2 hours. 12. Make sure there are no leaks, if so, turn pump off and retighten. 13. Resume normal operation and record pressure for future reference. 3. Pool Cleaner: Pool Maintenance1. Turn of pool pump and pool cleaner pump if one is installed on your pool. Some pool cleaners do not require a separate pump. 2. Remove pool cleaner from water. 3. Clean the bag or catch basin area with a water hose. 4. Reinstall the bag or close the catch basin area. 5. Put the pool cleaner back in the pool. 6. Turn on the pump and make sure the cleaner is moving freely. 7. Resume normal operation. NOTE: Never operate the pool cleaner when you are in spa mode. This will cause the spa to drain. Heated water will enter the pool area. Pool Maintenance 4. Skimmer Baskets: Filter MaintenanceA. Clean weekly with normal pool maintenance duties or as necessary.B. Remove basket from skimmer body and clean with a water hose. C. Reinstall basket in skimmer body. D. If pool is exceptionally dirty, turn the pump off to prevent any debris from going into the plumbing lines. E. Skimmer basket will float if handle is not connected to baskets. Filter maintenance. 5. Skimmer and pool bottom drain valves. Filter MaintenanceThese valves may be adjusted to control the ration of water being filtered from the top of the water surface or the bottom of the pool.
A. For a cloudy pool, skimmer valves should be completely closed to allow bottom drain suction. Filter should run continuously until pool clears. Then return to normal operation. B. For more of a surface debris like in the fall when leaves are coming down, you can increase the suction of your skimmers by turning off the bottom drains. This will increase the suction of you skimmers.
6. Time Clock: Filter Maintenance. Your pool is equipped with a 24 hr. time clock. The time clock has an orange on / off switch for manual use and has time clock clips to be placed on the dial for your desired setting. During the hottest part of the summer, you should circulate at least 8 hours during the day. During the winter, only 4 hours is necessary depending on the environment of you pool. During the off seasons, 4-8 hours will be sufficient. See “TIPS” for recommended time settings.
7. Freeze protection: Filter Maintenance The freeze protection device on your time clock is designed to turn the pump on during freezing weather. Make sure the freeze protection is set to at least 35 degrees. It does not produce any heat or turn on any equipment that produces heat. It only turns the pump on to circulate water in the plumbing lines to prevent them from freezing. Water may freeze during much colder weather while circulating and each pool owner should take extra precautions to prevent any freeze damage.
